In no order of importance or sequence - there have been questions, and I know they are concern and not negative.
I just feel like its better to just openly answer the most asked, just so that the story came straight from
Me! 😉
I thought I would address some
Of them in the most non medical terms possible, which is exactly as I talk, because I don't know any medical terms whatsoever!
😜
1. Why are you doing chemo? Why don't you have the tumor removed, first?
I trust the decision of my doctor. I have small cell carsinoma, which in the
the United States, there will be about 11,000 new cases of cervical cancer this year. A rough estimate is that only about 100 of these will be small cell. Most women with cervical cancer will have either squamous cancer (80% to 85%) or adenocarcinoma (15% to 20%). I have ardenocarsinoma.
Because this tumor is so rare, we have very little understanding of the cause
Medical lingo: Small cell cervical cancer is a rare subtype of cervical cancer. It is a high-grade variant of a larger group of tumors called neuroendocrine cancers. These are cancers that form in the hormone-producing cells of the body's neuroendocrine system, which is composed of cells that are a cross between traditional endocrine cells (or hormone-producing cells) and nerve cells.
Basically, there aren't many cases with what I have - and the only studies show that the cells are so small that to prevent them from going into my body - where they might be hiding - we have to zap them with chemo before operating. I won't let them live!
I don't have "cervical" cancer, per say, it's just located there, so it is categorized under cervical cancer.
2. Why did you cut your hair off, it might not fall out?
Because I am in charge of this beast called cancer. It will not take anything away from me that I do not choose for it to take. That includes my hair. I know it is coming out, mostly because the mix of my two chemotherapies, it is probable. I decided that i had to make the decision to go above the hair I did, in fact, love; to the realization that it was only a small price to pay to victory!!!!!!!
3. How did you "know" something was wrong?
I have known I don't feel right. Fatigue, mostly. If you start to notice that you can't walk from the living room to your bedroom without wanting to sit down, please go find out what's wrong - and don't stop until you find what it is!
4. What can I do to help?
You are doing it! Prayers and positive thoughts! You are all amazing! Your words lift me so high, and your faith is lifting me higher!!!!! Faith, hope, and love!!!!!
5. How are y'all doing (the family)?
What the heck could I do without Jay Peeples!!!????? Wow! I don't know that i have words to express what he has meant and been to me! We have always been two crazy kids thinking we were both in charge - this is one of those things that we both know we have no control or charge of. We both lift this to God, as the ultimate healer.
The girls ask me questions, and whether they understand it or not, We are a tight little Peeps bunch. We know the power of God and the power of family!!!!

You is one tough broad....

I love your style Michelle. You are helping many others by increasing awareness, reducing fear, and separating the cancer from the person. It is not you! I am so thankful you have faith, love, and a fierce attitude.
